.ALTEC: VISTEON, ACQUISITIONS AND  JOINT VENTURES

Visteon has actively searched for opportunities that allow it to expand its technology and increase its product supply. Towards this goal, Visteon has carried out the following acquisitions and joint ventures:

Acquisitions:

  • Naldec Corporation, to set up a technical and manufacturing platform in the Pacific, in Asia.
  • Internal Division of Plastic Omnium, placing Visteon as the market leader in automotive cabins, including climate control, audio and multimedia system.
  • Major shareholder in Duck Yang Industry Co. Ltd., strengthening its cabin line.
  • Zexxel Innovation, business aimed to navigation systems development now called Visteon Technologies LLC.
  • PABA Incorporated, manufacturer and distributor of climate control products, changing its name to Visteon Climate Control Systems, LTD, providing Visteon with the means to offer parts for radiators, accumulators and heating parts of practically all automobile brands and models in the US.
  • Has increased its interest in Halla Climate Control in South Korea.

Joint Ventures:

  • Ibiquital Digital Corporation, to develop a functional radio prototype concept by transmission of technology from AM and FM of ibiquity, which permits incorporation to future radio platforms.
  • 3Com’s Palm Computing Inc., to incorporate palm computers to automobile data transmissions.
  • Lernout & Hauspies, to create an ample solution scope for the automotive industry with speaking capacity.
  • Bang & Olufson, to offer exclusive audio systems.
  • Mitsubochi Belt K.K., with the purpose of developing, manufacturing and selling plastic parts for cabins.
  • Sirius Satellite Radio, to transmit its digital audio service with 100 channels directly from its 3 satellites to audio products created by Visteon.
  • Samsungs Electronics Co., to develop data transmission equipment at a low price and fully integrated which offer connection in highways.
  • Fujitsu Ltd., with the purpose of improving development timing of Visteon products, increasing the use and accuracy in advanced engineering applications supported by computers.
  • Microsoft Corp. and Intel Corp., to develop a computing platform for automobiles with Visteon products as ICES.
  • Nintendo of America and Europe Co., to trade and promote the Entertainment Rear System with Nintendo software.
  • De Tomaso Automobiles, for personal engineering and interior design of Mangusta sports cars.
  • Texas Instruments, to incorporate technology to automotive market through Visteon’s RPID.
  • SAP, SDRC; Netscape, Aspect Development and I2 Technologies, to build a transparent and state-of-the-line information system capable of integrating commercial operations.
  • Allied Signal Power Systems, Inc., to design, develop and manufacture Allied Signal Turbo Generator, a portable power unit which will work with Visteon’s electronic power control system and other related controls.
